Happy Engagement Season

Engagement season is upon us. We are seeing this first hand at the Conservatorie this month. Congratulations to all of the newly engaged of St. Augustine. Especially our good friends Ryan and Maiken!

We’ve got to admit that we love a good engagement story. Just today Meredith and Tommy retold the details of Tommy’s surprise proposal. He met her in Paris while she was studying abroad. After handing the camera to another American tourist in the hall of mirrors at Versailles, he took a knee and popped the question. Lucky for the tourist and for Tommy and Mere that they quickly caught on and started snapping pictures! I love how genuinely excited and shocked she is in this picture!

We’d love to hear just how cleaver, romantic, surprising or perfectly subtle your proposal was. Share your story in response to this post.

Just tell him

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and we want to help you tell him. Guys will admit it they need a little help from time to time.

Ladies, here’s your chance to tell him what your favorite flowers are. I’ll never forget a Valentine’s Day a few years ago one of my best friends got a big ol’ bunch of daisies and said to me, “I just wish it was roses”. A couple of blocks down the street her mother received a dozen roses and said, “I just wish it was a bunch of daisies.” Poor guys just mixed it up that year.

Whataya say we make it a little easier on them this year. Just respond to this post with your favorite flower to receive on Valentines Day. This way, you get what you want, and he gets all the credit (and maybe even a big kiss).

Gentlemen, all I have to say is, you’re welcome, and don’t wait till the last minute give us a call. We can get just what she wants even if it’s a bit obscure if you give us enough time. Rustic, elegant, monochromatic, whimsical we can do it.

Can’t wait to see what you guys come up with. I’ll even post some pictures after it’s all said and done.

Flower of the Month: Calla

Join us as we embark on a new monthly feature. Appropriately named: Flower of the month. Unlike your designated flower/gem stone of the month calendar we will base our selections on flowers we love at the moment.

This month there can be no other flower than the Calla Lily. This week a new Calla came into our lives in the form of the most beautiful baby girl. Our good friends Dave and Sarah named their first daughter after this alluring flower.

Most often we like to use Callas by themselves because they stand out so well all slender and modern like. But then, when we really wanna get funky we partner them with succulents, feathers and curly willow! This is just what we are planning for our upcoming wedding with Tracy. She sat down for her consultation and said, “I’m just funky” as she gestured to her adorably hip outfit. Can’t wait to play with the dark purple callas and aqua succulents!

Stay tuned for pictures of the real wedding.

Vendor Update!

If we havn’t mentioned it before, let me reiterate how much we love Monachetti Video. Take a few minutes (or an hour because you’ll be hooked!) to watch one of their wedding videos and you’ll see why we can’t get enough!

Not only is Monachetti crazy talented, creative and fun, but these guys are sure to wow you during the planning process as well! Known for their professionalism and for being practically invisible at your wedding, you’ll be amazed at all they capture without you even noticing!

More good news! Monachetti is based in the DC area, but is available for hire worldwide! And we aren’t the only ones who love them- Monachetti has been seen on several well known wedding blogs. You can find their work featured on Style Me Pretty, The Wedding Chicks, and Rock ‘N’ Roll Bride just to name a few!

Last but not least, I want to add that my husband and I used Monachetti to film our wedding last May, and we could not have been more pleased! The video was not of high priority for me at first, but I was blown away by the results! Now I realize what a gift it is to be able to re-live all the moments that often seem blurry from that day. It was definitely one of the best decisions we made for our wedding!

Cheers to you Monachetti! Keep it up!
